Abstract:

Data from VCR/LTER meteorological stations is listed in comma-separated-value (CSV) files by year. A combined file for all years is also available, sorted by station, date and time, however, unlike the annual files, this combined file is too large for most spreadsheets to handle. A compressed copy of all the .CSV files is included in a single .ZIP file for users who wish to conveniently download a copy of all the data.

When a sensor is removed a new sensor will be placed in service immediately at that station. Because its constant will be different from the one removed, a new multiplier must be calculated for the 21X program and entered into it. The 21X multiplier is calculated as follows:

For 200S Sensor: MULT=60/(0.100*uamps)

The multipliers must be entered into the datalogger program in the proper location. Changes to the program must be noted in the Station Log and on all "current" listings of that station's 21X program.

The way the sensor is configured it is measuring the total global radiation. To go from this total global radiation to solar irradiance [W m-2] (shortwave radiation) the sampling time in seconds must be taken into account. In this case it is 1 hour = 3600 seconds.

Solar Irradiance [W m-2] = Total Global Radiation [kJ m-2]/3.6

Description:

Li-Cor quantum (190S) sensor

Measurement is total flux per hour in units are milliMoles per meter squared. It can be converted to a flux density in uMoles/second/m2 by dividing the total hourly flux by 3.6 (e.g., 7200 milliMoles/hour / 3.6 = 2000 uMoles/second/meter-squared.
